Peru: Machu Picchu global photos

Here below are some pictures from the Machu Picchu site.

This one is the most famous, as this is the first sight we can have when we arrive at Machu Picchu.
The peak behind the city is called Huayna Picchu. Its significance is litteraly "young mountain", whereas Machu Picchu means "old mountain".

This is the entrance for climbing up to the Huayna Picchu. It's recommanded to do it early in the morning. Due to the massive success of the site, afterwards you may risk to face a major crowd while climbing this quite not so easy mountain.

I didn't do it, because our group was not to climb it. From there (around 2700m), you can have a very panoramic scene of the Machu Picchu and Urubamba valley, if you don't feel uncomfortable due the height !

Some other pictures taken inside the city...

NB: I didn't want to take pictures in B&W, but I was running out of films in color !
