China 2012: The terracotta army - 3rd excavation of the pit #1
Searching information detailed about the pits, through the travelchinaguide.com website, I got an answer from what we saw when we were visiting the pit #1.
When you arrive to the pit, you face to thousands of soldiers, you don't know where to look as there are all around you, each one is unique.
When you decide to make a tour, you finally see parts of the pits covered by soil, and you guess something was under. You keep on touring, and you finally see another army of soldiers but with 'holes': archeologists have solved several puzzles to complete each soldier who was broken in several pieces.
There's one thing funny but disappointed in China: everywhere you can see signals saying 'smoking is forbidden' or 'no photography' in some museum or tourists attractions like the terracotta army in Xi'an, but chinese people seem not to follow these prohibtions. And foreign tourists imitate chinese tourists, overall because we are not going back to Xi'an as often as we would like.
I'm talking about that because the photos you will see under that paragraph were not supposed to be taken.
They represent soldiers in way to being excavated. This has begun since June 2012. It's the third excavation of the pit#1since the last one that occurred in 1985. That what we learn from this page.
We were a bit lucky because tourists who came before June 2012 didn't see these soldiers.
